Construction of a simple latrine on a garden plot

Latrine projectOn garden plots, Sewerage is usually not provided, so the cottager sooner or later has to take care of the construction of simple latrines or box type (powder closets) latrines. The location of the latrine on the site should not be aby as, where it seemed convenient there and stuck the toilet, but according to certain rules.
If there is an aqueduct on the garden plot, then the toilet is built at a distance of at least 25 meters from it. Otherwise, you risk being poisoned by fecal water, which will inevitably get into the well located close to the toilet. The rake should be made completely impervious to fecal water. This is achieved by erecting brick or wooden walls in the cesspool, around which a clay castle is rammed. In the figure below you see a diagram of a simple pit latrine.

You can also build a warm backlash toilet on the garden plot. This is the same latrine (which has a sealed lid), but located in the house itself. But the backlash toilet requires the construction of special backlash channels to remove odors outside. The system must be well-thought-out, otherwise you risk permeating the entire home with unpleasant odors. The easiest thing to do on a garden plot is to equip a powder closet. This construction is quite hygienic and will cost you much cheaper than a toilet. In addition, it almost does not emit a smell. However, the powder closet is not for the lazy. If you have placed it directly in the house, it will need to be operated correctly. That is, daily clean the box, sprinkle the sewage with dry peat, ash, sawdust or sand. Accumulated sewage can be used on the site as fertilizer.

As a receiver of sewage, you can use a strong box made of sheet boards with a thickness of 30-40 mm. The box must be carefully prokonopatit and tarred. You can also use metal buckets or tanks for this purpose, but they rust quite quickly, being exposed to aggressive sewage, and become unusable. A plastic container is also not bad as a receiver.
